Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have taken to Twitter in order to celebrate wrapping on the show’s 100th episode.
The flagship series for Marvel Television has been on the air for five years, led by fan-favourite Phil Coulson, who originally hailed from the MCU, where he met his untimely demise at the hands of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, only to be resurrected on the small screen where he assembled a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to deal with threats to the MCU.
From HYDRA to supernatural threats, the show has come a long way over the years, and with the Season 5 premiere, we will hopefully get an answer as to how Coulson and his team have managed to find themselves in space.
With the first 17 minutes available to watch online (completely legally, above) as well as new cast photos, speculation is already running rampant as to what the new season will include – and if the 100th episode wrap photo is anything to go by, it will feature new recurring character Deke (Jeffrey Ward):
The milestone is particularly important for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the show nearly didn’t get a fifth season, as it was revealed that ABC were looking to cancel the show, but a Disney mandate saved it from cancellation.
No matter what the future holds for the Agents, the 100th episode deserves to be acknowledged for the achievement it is, as though the future is uncertain for Coulson and the team, they’ve left a real mark on Marvel Television, which is rapidly growing.
