Bloodier and more violent than ever.
After having been leaked online for a moment before Amazon promptly took it down, the trailer for Season 2 of Eric Kripke’s The Boys has officially been released after the cast and crew’s appearance at CCXP in Sao Paulo.
Cast members Antony Starr (Homelander), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Jessie T. Usher (A Train) and Karen Fukuhara (The Female) joined the crowds in Sao Paulo to talk a little about what it was like to embody their characters and reflect on the first season – without spoiling the second.
Then it was after their talk that the crowd were treated to the new trailer for Season 2, which begins with a blood-covered Homelander flying in with a look of warmth and concern, which is likely to do with the final scenes of the Season 1 finale in which Homelander, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and the audience learned of one character’s survival.
From this point, the trailer cuts to some snippets of new footage, including A Train on life support, another with Starlight soaking up the light of paparazzi flashbulbs, as well as glimpses of The Female, Mr. Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) and of course, Urban’s fan-favourite Billy.
On brand for The Boys, the trailer is packed with blood, violence, and just general R-rated fun, but noticeably absent are any teases of new characters like Patton Oswalt’s mystery role, Goran Visnjic as Alistair Adana, Aya Cash as Stormfront, and Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman.
Season 2 of The Boys will debut on Amazon Prime in 2020.
