Falcon actor, Anthony Mackie has said that Avengers: Infinity War is the most human Marvel film yet.

Next month, Marvel Studios are releasing their most ambitious project to-date, as the Russo Brothers-directed film will feature around 76 characters fighting intergalactic villain, Thanos (Josh Brolin). With so many characters in the mix, the film could easily become a disjointed, shallow action film, but hopes remain high, as the Russos are once again teaming up with Captain America trilogy writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, responsible for some of the MCU’s most impressive stories to-date.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight (in one of a series of interviews with the Infinity War cast) Mackie, who has been in the role of Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon, for around five years now, says that people will be surprised with what Marvel has been able to accomplish with Infinity War. The actor made a point of stating firmly throughout the interview that the film, “gives a humanity to all the characters”:

Avengers 3 is going to be very different and they’re gonna be a lot of shocking moments. And  I think the fans are gonna get more than they expect out of this movie, from all characters. I think this is the most human of the Avengers movies, of all the Marvel movies. So I think you’ll be really surprised to see how normal these superheroes could be. It’s a very, very interesting storyline that we’ve chosen to tell. Like I said, it just gives a humanity to all the characters.”

The mention of “shocking moments” probably points to the fact that any of the characters could be in the firing line during the film – and while the long-time Avengers members like Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) are at the top of most people’s lists, any of the supporting characters could also bite the bullet.

The human element will likely come from the helplessness the heroes will feel while up against Thanos and the Black Order, as well as their division over the past two of three years having left the Avengers more vulnerable than ever. On the other side, the villains will also likely be more humanised, as the latest trailer seems to show Thanos and Gamora as a child, and so, the two being pitted against each other will likely stir up something within the Mad Titan and his daughter.
