Avengers: Endgame is set to be the culmination of over a decade’s worth of work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems that the man who began it all as Iron Man, will bow out after the fourth Avengers film.
Reports have been swirling about the expiration of Robert Downey Jr’s contract, and with further news that his onscreen partner Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) is also set to leave the franchise, it certainly seems as though the studio could be building up to Downey’s exit.
A source close to We Got This Covered has revealed that the Infinity War sequel will indeed by Downey’s final outing in the MCU.
It hasn’t been made clear how the character will bow out – but be it a heroic sacrifice, a quiet retirement, or even something else, if this news is true, fans are going to want to prepare themselves for an emotional goodbye to Tony Stark.
Many theories for the upcoming film place Iron Man and Captain America (Chris Evans) in mortal danger, and while no fans want to see the founding Avengers members meet their end, we’re under no illusion that both will make it alive.
But all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits screens on April 25th in the UK and April 26th in the US.
