IT’S FINALLY HERE. The trailer we’ve all been waiting for. Our first look at Avengers: Infinity War has arrived – and we’ve combed through shot-by-shot.

infinity war 1

“There was an idea…”

Nick Fury’s voice carries us through the opening shot – a planet’s surface, turning to a distressed Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr)…

infinity war 2

“To bring together a group of remarkable people…”

Who takes the next line, over the familiar sight of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) in some rubble, looked over by the Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong), clearly upset that Bruce has come through their ceiling…

infinity war 3

“To see if we could become something more…”

Paul Bettany’s Vision takes over in a scene change that puts Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) – who appears to be living with a distinctly Paul Bettany-looking Vision. Though perhaps this is a projection of Wanda’s…

infinity war 4

“So when they needed us, we could fight the battles…”

Says Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as he stands stoically in a spaceship…

infinity war 5

“That they never could.”

Ending the voiceover relay is a newly-blonde Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), who is facing a somewhat awkward interaction with estranged love interest Bruce Banner, as he works on the Hulkbuster armour.

Then comes the swell of Alan Silvestri’s ‘Avengers Theme’ – and it’s glorious.

infinity war 6

“In time, you will know what it’s like to lose.”

Then in New York’s Sanctum, Doctor Strange and Wong play host to Bruce and Tony, who is obviously there to collect his fallen friend, when there’s some commotion outside. Whoever could that be? Probably, Thanos, as he’s doing the unsettling, threatening voiceover.

infinity war 7

“To feel so desperately that you’re right, and yet to fail all the same.”

Arguably one of the best shots comes next, as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) Spidey-senses kick in, and all the hair on his forearm stands on end, when he turns to see a doughnut craft hovering over the city. This may be the first time we have a realistic visual of the Spidey-senses in cinema, and that’s super cool.

infinity war 8

“Dread it, run from it, destiny still arrives.”

Once again, Tony Stark pulls the old “Mother of God” move with his shades, as he stands in a street full on rubble, flanked by two sorcerers and a scientist.

infinity war 9

Then, walking through some dead bodies is that old snake in the grass, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who clutches the Tesseract in his hand, offering it to someone. Again, whoever could it be? Again, probably Thanos.

infinity war 10

Then there he is, looking a little underwhelming, and slightly like the thumb people from Spy Kids, Thanos (Josh Brolin), proving that when you’ve waited this long for a villain to arrive, it’s just kind of disappointing. What isn’t disappointing, however, is Spider-Man’s new suit, which we saw at the attend of Homecoming, that he’s finally wearing in the next scene.

infinity war 11

“Evacuate the city, engage all defences, and get this man a shield!”

To Wakanda, where T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) is giving the orders, and we get a brief glimpse of what looks to be Proxima Midnight, one of the Black Order, as she throws her lance at…

infinity war 12

Bearded Captain America (Chris Evans), who catches it with ease, stepping out of the shadows to reveal his new (and frankly, glorious) rugged look, much to the relief of Scarlet Witch and MCU fans everywhere.

infinity war 13

Then Hulkbuster, Black Widow and Doctor Strange in quick succession – something crashing to earth, Cap and T’Challa fighting in Wakanda and Peter getting slapped to the ground.

infinity war 14

“Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe…”

Worried Tony Stark is back again, followed by a shot of what looks like Corvus Glaive trying to prise the Mind Stone from a Vision-looking Vision, as he screams in pain.

infinity war 15

“But this, does put a smile on my face.”

Two out of five isn’t bad, as Thanos places the Space Stone next to the Power Stone in his gauntlet…before cold-cocking Iron Man.

infinity war 16

Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) makes an appearance doing what he does best – brooding with a big gun in his hand, as T’Challa goes claws out and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) rages when the battle begins in earnest in Wakanda, when one army storms at the other.

infinity war 17

Then we see Team Cap in all their glory: Cap, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Black Panther, Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle), Hulk, Falcon and Okoye (Danai Gurira) charge, looking like the badasses they are.

infinity war 18

“Who the hell are you guys?”

A one-eyed Thor questions the Guardians of the Galaxy, in the only glimpse we get of them during this trailer.

infinity war 19

Marvel has pulled it out of the bag once again, proving that good things do come to those who wait – not that the waiting is entirely over yet. Still, it’s something to keep us all occupied until the film’s release, though this does still beg the question – what are the Russo brothers counting down to?

Avengers: Infinity War will be released April 27th in the UK and May 4th in the US.
