Based on the DC Comics
Deadline have today revealed that through their new deal at Warner Media, Bad Robot is currently developing film and TV projects based on DC’s Justice League Dark universe.
The deal is new, and right now there aren’t any details on specific projects or characters that are being developed, but the report suggests that Bad Robot’s Head of Motion Pictures Hannah Minghella and Head of Television Ben Stephenson will soon be meeting with talent reps and their clients to discuss which characters will get their own projects.
The JLD first appeared in September 2011’s Justice League Dark #1, which featured some of the more offbeat and occult heroes, such as John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, the Changing Man, and Zatanna. In the following issues, the roster grew, adding characters like Swamp Thing, Andrew Bennett, Black Orchid, Doctor Mist, Frankenstein, Pandora, Nightmare Nurse, and many more. The JDL title and team were created by Peter Milligan, with art from Mikel Janín.
With their more strange and mystical powers, the team typically handled situations outside the scope of the traditional Justice League, so this could make for some very interesting stories to explore on the screen.
