Wyld Stallyns are reforming in Bill & Ted Face the Music, which is being shopped in Cannes, some 29 years after the duo’s first Excellent Adventure.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves will reprise their iconic roles as time-travellers “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and “Ted” Theodore Logan in the franchise’s third instalment, Bill & Ted Face the Music, which is currently in the works.
Penning the script are original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, and Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot has been confirmed to direct the film. Limitless’ Scott Kroopf will produce alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce, of Hammerstone Studios, and Steven Soderbergh will act as executive producer along with Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr. and John Santilli.
Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo as middle-aged men with the responsibilities of family life. While they’ve written plenty of songs, they are yet to write a good one, and they’re worlds away from writing the greatest song ever. But, when the fabric of time and space begins tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns that only the duo’s song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and dry of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on another time travel adventure in order to seek out the song which will set the world right, bringing harmony to the universe. Together with the help of their daughters and a new collection of historical figures, and musical legends, they find far more than they could have ever expected.
Stars Reeves and Winter said of the reunion: “We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”
