Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson, Mississippi Grind) are on board to direct, Geneva Robertson-Dworet (who’s also writer on the forthcoming Tomb Raider) is working on a new draft of the film’s script – and the Captain Marvel crew is still expanding, as Marvel have brought on board, Oscar-nominated production designer Andy Nicholson.
Nicholson has previously worked with Marvel on Captain America: The First Avenger as Supervising Art Director, while his other projects have included, Divergent, The Host, Assassin’s Creed and upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
He also received a nomination at the Academy Awards for his work on Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, which certainly stands him in good stead from Carol Danvers’ big screen debut.
The story will take place in the 1990s, as Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers battles the Skrulls. And while Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is reported to appear, Jackson himself claims he hasn’t been contacted.
Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
