Carol Danvers will return.
Brie Larson is officially returning as Captain Marvel in a second solo film, as Disney’s Marvel Studios has announced that they have started development on a sequel to the billion-dollar film which marked the studio’s first female-led feature.
Larson will return as Carol Danvers, the former military pilot imbued with cosmic powers that make her an incredible force to be reckoned with.
According to Deadline, a Marvel source revealed that Megan McDonnell, part of the writing team for Disney+’s upcoming MCU series WandaVision, is in advanced negotiations to pen the script for the hero’s second solo outing.
The directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck helmed the original film, working from a screenplay they wrote with Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The story for the film was written by Boden, Fleck, Robertson-Dworet, Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, however it is unclear at the moment whether any of this team are set to return for the sequel.
Of course, with it being early days on the project there’s no news on what fans can expect to see or who might be joing Brie Larson in her second solo outing, but we’ll keep you posted.
