Sometimes the excitement is just too much.
By now it’s no secret that the scripts for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were kept well-guarded and only shown to those who needed to see them. The culmination of these films involved major character deaths, and completely changed how the MCU will be moving forward.
For his part, Captain America (Chris Evans) gets a happy ending, which sees him go back in time to live out his days with his love, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), passing his shield and Captain America mantle to his friend, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).
It’s was an emotional moment for fans, and apparently an emotional moment for Evans as well – so emotional that he spoiled the moment for Anthony Mackie before the Falcon actor even got a chance to read it.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Evans told the story of receiving the script pages for the all-important shield handover scene, and promptly spoiling it for Mackie. He admitted that he probably stole a nice moment with Mackie from Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, but it was clearly a special moment between Evans and his co-star also.

While it seems that Steve Rogers’ time in the MCU is at an end the Marvel/Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has just started production, which will see Mackie return to his role as Sam Wilson, alongside Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. The series will also see the return of Civil War villain Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and Agent 13, Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp). Currently it’s unclear how Falcon’s new role as Captain America fits into the story, but we’ll find out when it premieres on Disney+ in 2020.
