The MCU is courting another Oscar winner
Many believed that after his tenure in the role of the Dark Knight, Christian Bale was done with the world of comic book heroes, but according to a new report, the Oscar-winner is in talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The fourth solo outing for Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder will be the second to be overseen by award-winning writer/director Taika Waititi, and promises the exciting return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster who, in a twist, won’t just be playing Hemsworth’s love interest and damsel-in-distress. No, this time Portman is set to take up the Thor mantle herself, following in the footsteps of her comic book counterpart.
As with all Marvel casting rumours, there’s no news on who Bale is in talks to play, but Collider (who first reported the news) seem to believe that it is very likely that the actor will indeed join the cast before long. Perhaps he will be taking on the role of the film’s villain, as this may have been more appealing to an actor that spent so many years playing a comic book hero.
Waititi recently revealed that the film will go into pre-production this April, eyeing August for filming to begin ahead of a scheduled November 2021 release.
