Any details we can get at this point

Currently on the press tour to promote his new film, The Gentleman, Colin Farrell has also given fans a little taste of what we can expect from Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Farrell was confirmed to be playing comic book villain The Penguin in the film late last year, and naturally it was one of the first things that late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel wanted to ask about when the actor appeared on his show.

“I’m in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director, who wrote the script, and wrote a really beautiful, dark, moving script, really gorgeous,” Farrell revealed. “It’s all very hush hush, but it’s a really beautiful script that he wrote and he has a real love for it, Matt. So, we’re in the process of finishing designing the aesthetic of the character.”

Robert Pattinson takes the role of the Dark Knight in Reeves’ film, heading up an all-star cast of Farrell, Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), Paul Dano (The Riddler), Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone) and Peter Sargard in an unknown role, but one many believe to be Harvey Dent/Two Face.

This film isn’t the first time that Farrell has taken on the role of a comic book baddie, as he joked there’s only “a small demographic” of people who liked him as Bullseye in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil film.

“My kids are tired of me playing a villain… They’re kind of embarrassed by it,” he told Kimmel.

The actor also revealed that he has three weeks before he starts filming for The Batman, (and it looks as though he’s been bulking up for the role) so we could be getting a glimpse of the Penguin sooner rather than later.

The Batman is slated for release on June 25th, 2021.
