The re-release comes hot on the heels of the game’s 25 year anniversary. When launched back in 1990, Night Trap caused quite the stir with critics claiming the game promoted gratuitous violence and sexual aggression against women. Along with the original Mortal Kombat, it contributed to the introduction of the ESRB that handles ratings on video games today. Night Trap is an FMV horror game in which players must take on the role of a Special Agent taked with watching over a house of teenage girls, ensuring their survival. The house is, obviously, full of danger as vampires attempt to attack the girls for their blood. Players switch surveillance cameras and trigger traps to stop the intruders.
Their will be a Collectors Edition of the game released which contains the following;
- Region free Night Trap physical disc for the PlayStation 4 featuring a full-color manual, large fold-out poster, and reversible cover art.
- Night Trap cassette tape featuring the infamous Night Trap theme song.
- A 4-inch custom embroidered Special Control Attack Team patch on black ballistic fiber.
- An individually numbered shrink-wrapped box specially tooled and tailored to be a throwback to the original red box Sega CD release of Night Trap.
Night Trap will release August 11 on physical formats with the game available for digital download August 15. It will release for PS4 and PC.
