The Arrowverse has been gearing up for their next crossover event since Elseworlds premiered, and according to CW president Mark Pedowitz, Crisis on Infinite Earths will be the network’s most ambitious project to date.
Pedowitz told reporters at the 2019 Television Critics Association winter press tour, “It will be the biggest, the most complicated one that they’ve done, but I am proud to say that they are doing it and we are supporting them.”
For those unfamiliar with Crisis on Infinite Earths, the crossover shares its title with a 12-issue comic books series, which ended with a number of major deaths, changing the DC Universe forever. Naturally, Pedowitz couldn’t reveal how closely The CW’s crossover will stick to the source material, but the story could result in major changes to the Arrowverse.
All he said was, “I can’t tell you if it will follow the comic book version, but it will take some big swings.”
Pedowitz also mentioned that while no decision has been made as to whether the Legends of Tomorrow will be involved in this crossover, he hopes that they will join the ensemble, “It’s going to be the biggest one we ever did. The only reason Legends wasn’t this year was the complications in production of doing these things. We don’t want to wear out everybody before the season ends. But we’re talking about a number of different ways to go. It is Crisis on Infinite Earths and if you know the history, things collapse.”
