Fear not, if you missed the Vixen animated series first time around, the CW have got you covered, announcing that they will be airing the series as a two-hour movie on August 30th.
Starring Megalyn Echikunwoke as Mari McCabe, it follows McCabe as she discovers that she has an ancient totem that allows her to mimic the ability of animals, which her sister Kuasa (Anika Noni Rose) desperately wants – as we learn over the episodes that there are few totems out there.
Set in the CW’s Arrowverse, Vixen has included appearances by characters such as Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), The Flash (Grant Gustin), The Atom (Brandon Routh), Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), Vibe (Carlos Valdes) and Firestorm (Franz Drameh & Victor Garber).
Echikunwoke also made an appearance as a live-action version of Vixen in the fourth season of Arrow, when she was called in to help take on Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).
Vixen also has strong ties to the Legends of Tomorrow, where Maisie Richardson-Sellers played Amaya Jiwa in season two, who is the grandmother of Mari McCabe and an earlier version of Vixen. Becoming a series regular, Amaya Jiwa will return in season three of the show, to be joined by Kuasa (who will be played by Tracy Ifeachor).
