The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen’s most iconic antagonist, Kingpin, will return this season, joining the series’ new showrunner.
A new post from Daredevil’s Twitter account confirms that Vincent D-Onofrio’s Kingpin will return for the upcoming third season, after having been absent for The Defenders.
The third season of the Marvel/Netflix series began filming this month, so it stands to reason that we would be hearing casting announcements now. As such, the Twitter account for Daredevil shared a GIF of D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk with the cryptic caption “He rises.”, while Marvel followed up with a post of their own, confirming that the character would be back in Season 3.

Charlie Cox, Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will all return for the third season, which has hired The Man in the High Castle’s Erik Oleson to take over as showrunner and executive producer, replacing Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, after their move from Daredevil Season 2 to The Defenders, which Petrie and Ramirez took over from Pacific Rim: Uprising’s Steven DeKnight.
D’Onofrio previously claimed that he knew where Kingpin’s next appearance would take place, though he wasn’t sure whether he would be shooting this year. Charlie Cox also said that he wanted the character back for the third season, and the final shot of The Defenders seemed to imply that Season 3 would follow the Kingpin-centric ‘Born Again’ arc.
At this time, Daredevil Season 3 doesn’t have a premiere date.
