More bad news for Guardians of the Galaxy fans, as it seems that Dave Bautista may not return to the franchise, following director James Gunn’s firing.
In a recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, Bautista remained completely honest about his feelings for Disney on the subject of friend and director James Gunn’s firing. He continued in his defence of Gunn, and when the host asked about his future with the Guardians franchise – specifically the third volume – he replied, “It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn. They’re putting the movie off. It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”
While many admire the actor’s loyalty, fans are split on his decision. Some are desperate for the actor to return to the role, while others feel that his constant slights at Disney are beginning to feel a little childish, especially given the fact that he is obligated to complete the run of his contract with Marvel, so the threat of quitting feels slightly hollow.
Unfortunately for those fans who are desperate to see Gunn’s return – Bautista included – Disney are remaining firm on their decision and it doesn’t seem like any of these threats are likely to make a difference.
