The DC Arrowverse returns to the CW this autumn with their ‘Super Season’ which they have now released a trailer for. Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and The Legends of Tomorrow all return for their new seasons, teasing some new and exciting footage in a feel-good trailer that’s guaranteed to get fans buzzing.
Here, we breakdown what each show is going to be bringing to the new season, where they’re starting and what villains we’re going to see.
Supergirl – October 9th
“Ridding National City of Queen Rhea and her Daxamite army was a major win for Supergirl, but one that came at a significant cost, as Kara was forced to sacrifice her budding relationship with Mon-El. When season three returns with all-new supercharged adventures this fall on The CW, Kara and team will come up against a new threat in the form of DC Worldkiller, Reign.”
Odette Annabelle will be joining the cast as big bad Reign, and Smallville’s Erica Durance is taking over the role of Alura, Kara’s mother, from Laura Benanti. Floriana Lima will be departing the show, appearing only in a handful of season 3’s episodes, to wrap up Maggie Sawyer’s arc.
The Flash – October 10th
“Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris Westfrom the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.”
Picking up six months after the defeat of Savitar, Team Flash are still trying to fill the void that Barry left behind. While Wally West will be putting on the iconic red Flash suit, speed won’t be the most effective weapon against the genius mind of Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker.
Legends of Tomorrow – October 10th
“After crash landing the Waverider in a version of 2017 Los Angeles where dinosaurs roam the streets and the skyline is adorned with London’s iconic Big Ben clock tower, the Legends were quick to realize that “we broke time.” Last year, the loveable band of misfit heroes traveled throughout the timeline fixing a series of Aberrations. This year, they’ll be turning the crazy up to 11, as a wave of Anachronisms turns History on its head, leaving the Legends responsible for piecing it back together.”
The villains at the centre of season 3 will be Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and newcomer Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor) who have deep connections to members of The Legends team.
Arrow – October 12th
“With the future of the team left hanging in the balance, Arrow gave new definition to the phrase “blowing up the show.” Now, the focus shifts to uncovering the fate of each and every member of Team Arrow. Could anyone have possibly survived an island-wide explosion, or has the book closed on them, as it has on Oliver’s five-year flashback story?”
Season 6 details are being kept quiet after the shock of the season 5 finale, but there will more than likely be a time jump, and some surprises when it comes to season 6’s villain(s). The Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, teased in an interview: “You don’t follow [Prometheus] up with one villain. Are you a fan of 24?…It’s more about the way that they introduced them on 24.”
This is reference to how TV show 24 would often put all the focus on one villain, only to reveal several others throughout the season. So, secondary characters and betrayal of season 5 may well point to season 6’s villains.
