A brand new Deadpool 2 trailer has been released today, showcasing more of the film’s plot than ever before.
Directed by John Wick co-director David Leitch, the still-untitled sequel will see the return of some familiar faces, as well as introducing a whole lot more, and setting up a new franchise at the same time.
Though the plot details are still slim, it seems that this film will see Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Julian Dennison play a young mutant that is the cause for Wade (Ryan Reynolds) and Cable (Josh Brolin) to cross paths. When the latter travels through time (presumably) in order to kill the kid, Wade is tasked with the job of keeping him safe.
As we’ve come to expect from Deadpool, the trailer is crammed full of Easter Eggs, from a mention of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, which starred Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, to a jab at the “derivative” X-Force – and a clip of Wade whizzing around in Professor Xavier’s iconic wheelchair. There’s also a super-meta discussion between Wade and Weasel (TJ Miller) about the chances of a third Deadpool film.
What’s more is we get a better look at Zazie Beetz’s Domino, as well as a few of the other X-Force members – including Terry Crews and Shioli Kutsuna, though their characters are something as a mystery, with even the film’s IMDb page not listing their identities.
Deadpool 2 is set for release on May 16th in the UK, and May 18th in the US.
