Ryan Reynolds brings iconic Pokémon, Pikachu, to life in the first trailer for Detective Pikachu.
The film, which brings all your favourite Pokémon into the real world, stars Reynolds as the voice of the titular character, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Justice Smith joining him as a young man named Tim who has given up on his dreams of becoming a Pokémon trainer. But, when his father, a detective named Harry Goodman, goes missing, Tim meets Reynolds’ detective.
Time finds that he has a special connection to Pikachu, being the only human who can understand him, and he and the Pokémon join together in order to solve the mystery of Tim’s missing dad.
Goosebumps helmsman Rob Letterman is directing the film, the first live-action Pokémon film in the franchise’s 22-year history, which also stars Kathryn Newton, Rita Ora, Ken Watanabe, Suki Waterhouse and Bill Nighy.
Detective Pikachu is set for release on May 10th, 2019.
