We will soon be seeing the origin story of Bruce Willis’ Die Hard action hero in the upcoming sixth instalment, which has officially been named, McClane, for its leading man.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, the film’s producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura explained, “You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, McClane.”
Deadline originally broke the story of the prequel in 2015, which was then titled Die Hard: Year One, with Len Wiseman, director of Live Free Or Die Hard back at the helm.
According to Empire, the script features Willis as a 60-year-old McClane, but also includes a younger version of the character, said to be in his 20s.
Di Bonaventura continued, “We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before… We are gonna explore [the character] in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”
The script has been written by The Conjuring’s Chad and Carey Hayes. It currently has no release date.
