The Rock for The Thing?

A new report suggests that Hollywood’s number one action man (it’s not official, but we can all agree it’s true) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could be heading for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s reboot of Fantastic Four.

This is still heavily on the rumour side, but Johnson has already hinted that he is planning a meeting with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. But, is it possible that the two have met already, with the Jumanji star agreeing to a role in the studio’s Fantastic Four reboot?

Well, Marvel insider Roger Wardell has posted an intriguing tweet referencing Johnson’s possible future with the MCU:

It’s interesting that Vin Diesel is the one mentioned in the tweet, as not only is Johnson his Fast & Furious co-star, but Diesel also famously provides the voice of Groot in the MCU. With this tweet, it’s unsurprising that fans have begun speculating that Johnson could possibly be in the running for the role of Ben Grimm, or even just the voice of his alter ego, The Thing.

You have to admit, the idea of The Rock playing a dude made of rock is appealing for the jokes alone.

However, there are still no solid plans to reboot the Fantastic Four anytime soon with Marvel apparently wanting to wait at least five years until they introduce the X-Men or Fantastic Four, so it’s best to take this with a grain of salt.
