An early test screening of the DCEU’s team-up blockbuster Justice League has suggested that Warner Bros. might have another hit on their hands.

Followup to 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the film sees Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) bringing together a team of superheroes to take on Darkseid’s lieutenant, Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) who believes that the Earth is vulnerable in the wake of Superman’s death.

After Zack Snyder’s departure in May, Joss Whedon took over the project, leaving many wondering whether Justice League would be more of a Snyder movie or a Whedon movie, after substantial reshoots, script adjustments and a massive post-production process – or whether it will be a cohesive part of the DCEU canon.

However, the earliest reactions to the film suggest that DC fans will be happy with the outcome. spoke to some members of the early screening’s audience, and the reactions were positive:

After the summer hit that was Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. are no doubt trying to continue on their streak of recent success, after the critically panned BvS and Suicide Squad.

Justice League will also act as a launch pad for the DCEU forthcoming expansion. A solo Aquaman film will be coming in 2018, along with Shazam!, Green Lantern Corps, and Patty JenkinsWonder Woman sequel. There’s also a backlog of other upcoming projects, in various stages of production, like Matt ReevesThe Batman, Flashpoint, Gotham City Sirens, Harley Quinn Vs. The Joker and Nightwing.

And, if Justice League ends up being the hit that Warner Bros. is hoping for, the production on these titles is likely to speed up considerably. There’s still a long way to go, but at least the initial response to Justice League is encouraging.

The film is set for release on November 17th.
