Star of Fox’s The Gifted, Emma Dumont, has been tapped to play the lead in Razor, an adaptation of Everett Hartsoe’s comic from Rob Cohen.
Deadline broke the news that Dumont will star in the film as Nicole Mitchell, a young woman who (as a ten-year-old) witnesses her cop father’s murder at the hands of a gang of upwardly mobile crime figures who want to thwart his investigation into their crimes. The trauma of this sees her sent to a sanatorium for a decade, in which time she develops a complex revenge plan.
In an effort to rid Chinatown of the evil that plagues it, Nicole becomes superheroine Razor, characterised by her suit which is equipped with razors on the arms.
Director Cohen, responsible for creating the debut films of both the Fast and the Furious and XXX franchises said of the actress, “Emma is a renaissance woman. She’s a wonderful actress, a professional ballet dancer, and is currently getting her degree in Robotics Engineering. I have her training in Krav Maga and, believe me, there is nothing she can’t do.”
Jeff Most, known for producer The Crow will also produce the film, and added “Emma was born to play Razor. She is the embodiment of Everette Hartsoe’s comic character come to life. Emma naturally exudes the inner strength, acumen, athleticism, vulnerability, likability and street-wise intelligence that are the hallmarks of “Razor”. I couldn’t be more excited about finding the right actress in Emma to bring the character of Razor to life.”
As yet, Razor has no release date.
