Quentin Taratino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is already shaping up to be one of the director’s most divisive projects, covering the Hollywood of 1969, and the turbulent times surrounding it – even exploring the Manson Family murders.
But, as always, the director’s genius reputation has attracted some of the industry’s biggest names – but don’t worry, Tarantino fans, some of his most frequent collaborators are back as well. The most interesting revelation, however, is that while some of the actors will play original characters, some will be taking on Tinsel Town’s most iconic actors of the time.
Here, we’ve made a list of everyone cast in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood so far:
The Oscar-nominee will be portraying Manson Family victim Sharon Tate.
DiCaprio will play struggling TV actor, Rick Dalton, who teams up with his stunt double in order to make a name for themselves in Hollywood
The Inglourious Basterds star will play Rick’s stunt double, Cliff Booth.
Fanning will play Manson Family member Squeaky Fromme, who attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975.
The Riverdale actor will play Scott Lancer – and though no details have yet been given for his character, Scott Lancer was the name of a character portrayed by Wayne Maunder on the CBS western series, Lancer, which ran from 1968 to 1970.
Clifton Collins Jr.
The Westworld star will join the film as “Ernesto the Mexican Vaquero” – in Spanish-speaking parts of the US, “vaquero” means cowboy, which suggests that this character may have a connection to Rick and Cliff’s past work.
Hirsch will play hairstylist Jay Sebring, one of the victims of the Manson Family.
The Homeland alum will be playing iconic actor, Steve McQueen.
The 82-year-old Hollywood legend is signed to play rancher George Spahn, who rented out his ranch to the movie industry to film westerns, but in the late ‘60s housed Charles Manson and his followers.
Pacino has been cast as film producer Marvin Schwartz, who in 1969 produced the films 100 Rifles and Hard Contract.
Hammond, of Sound of Music fame, will play American actor Sam Wanamaker, who at the time had just completed work on the movie, Danger Route. Wanamaker is also the father of Harry Potter’s Madame Hooch, British actress Zoë Wanamaker.
The Hateful Eight actor has joined the film as “Land Pirate Keith” – your guess is as good as mine on that one.
Tim Roth & Michael Madsen
Frequent Tarantino collaborators Roth and Masden are also set to star in the film, in unspecified roles. The duo will no doubt bring the same intensity to this project as they have with all those before.
Also cast in unknown roles are Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet), James Marsden (Westworld) and Julia Butters (American Housewife).
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is set for release on August 9th, 2019.
