Yeah, they’re still doing them.
Warner Bros. has greenlit a third Fantastic Beasts film, with production set to begin in spring 2020.
After the frankly baffling conclusion of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, fans were left wondering where the story would go next, and apparently the answer to that question is Brazil. It has been revealed that the third film will be set in Rio de Janeiro, following its predecessors in exploring new lands and wizarding cultures.
Set to return for the threequel are Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald), Ezra Miller (Credence/Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) and Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein).
As well as these cast members, Deadline has reported that Jessica Williams, who appeared briefly in the second film as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks, a teacher at Ilvermorny (the American Hogwarts) will also return – in a much more pivotal role.
David Yates is returning to direct, reteaming with producers David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram, and Tim Lewis. Neil Blair, Danny Cohen, Josh Berger and Courtenay Valenti will act as executive producers. The screenplay will be written by Rowling and Kloves.
Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently slated for release on November 12th, 2021.
