This year may mark the 20th anniversary of David Fincher’s Fight Club, but it will also see the release of a third graphic novel in the series from Chuck Palahniuk.
Fight Club 3, a sequel graphic novel published by Dark Horse Entertainment, will be released as a 12-issue “maxi-series” which begins when Issue #1 hits shelves on January 30th.
Thanks to Deadline, however, we can take an advanced look at Fight Club 3, through an exclusive Dark Horse-produced trailer, and seven pages from the first issue, showing off the storytelling expertise of award-winning artist, Cameron Stewart.
Dark Horse also published the second in the series, Fight Club 2: The Tranquility Gambit, which revived the characters of Tyler Durden, the unnamed narrator, and Marla – all of which appear in the new series.
The synopsis of Fight Club 3 reads: “Marla, her first son, and her husband — the unnamed narrator in the novel, who now goes by Balthazar — live in a run-down motel in a sketchy neighborhood. In the Fight Club 2 graphic novel, Tyler transformed ‘Project Mayhem’ into ‘Rize or Die.’ Now, a new group has implemented a ruthless and deviant plan to fine-tune mankind, leading Balthazar to forge an unlikely alliance…with Tyler Durden.”
Palahniuk explained that the new instalment centers around the troubles of a volatile truce, “Fight Club 3 is about what happens when you need to team up with your enemy. And the situation is even more complicated here, given Tyler Durden and Balthazar’s unique relationship. And, yes, bodily fluids will be exchanged.”
