Anthony Mackie shares first photo from the set
Filming has officially begun on the Disney+ Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the avian half of the titular duo, Anthony Mackie, has marked the occasion by sharing a photo from the set.
Next year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will expand even further with the release of numerous TV series on the upcoming streaming service, Disney+. While still having the big budget star power of the big screen hits, these series will be able to spend more time delving into the stories of individual characters over a longer period of time.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be the first of the new Marvel series to hit the streaming platform, reuniting Cap’s right-hand men, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).
Today Mackie shared the first picture from the set, of his and Stan’s chairs, as cameras begin rolling on the project:
It’s not much, but it’s exciting to know that filming is finally underway on this highly-anticipated show which will follow the duo whose chemistry first graced the big screen in Captain America: Civil War, after them being adversaries in The Winter Soldier. With Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) no longer in the picture, the duo only have each other to turn to.
“I’ll tell you I have [seen scripts],” Stan said, when asked about the new series. “I have seen them and I’m so excited about it. It’s going to be so cool and kind of crazy. All I can say is it’s just new and different from what you’ve seen so far. I mean, it will be totally in line with everything that has happened and what we’ve seen and so on, but these characters are getting such additional mileage in terms of learning about who they are now, what they feel, what they’re thinking, and there’s a lot of action, comedy, you know there’s going to be comedy. I feel like you’re going to be happy. I think you’re going to be very happy. And there’s some crazy stuff, like stuff you don’t see coming from anywhere.”
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ in 2020.
