The final trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War has been released, and the Mad Titan’s plan has been revealed.

Just as in the original comics, Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) master plan is to kill half the universe – and in order to do it, he’s going to need the whole collection of Infinity Stones, two of which are firmly in the hands of the Avengers. Vision (Paul Bettany) has the Mind Stone lodged firmly in his forehead, and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is wearing the Time Stone in an amulet around his neck.

So, with his sights set firmly on the stones in their possession, Thanos is coming to Earth. And it’s up to the full Marvel roster to stop him.

The egos collide, as Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) share the screen for the first time, with Pratt’s Guardian rejecting Tony Stark’s plan in favour of his own – and with Doctor Strange chipping in, it will be amazing if this group can come up with a cohesive plan at all.

We also see a snippet of a flashback to a young Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and her Titan father, so clearly the film will explore some of the villain’s backstory. It’s great to see some of the dynamic between the Guardians and the Avengers, as two radically different teams brought together against a common enemy.

Thanos is hitting hard in this trailer, going for each and every heroes he’s facing, however the most shocking moment is saved for last, as Captain America (Chris Evans) goes mano a mano with golden-gloved villain, holding him back single-handedly. While it’s impressive, it doesn’t do much for fans hoping Cap is going to survive the film.

The official synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War reads:

“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.”
