Final Fantasy XV has seen incredible success since its launch last year so it would’ve been a smart bet that it would eventually get a sequel. Unfortunately, Square Enix has revealed that this is not the case.
The news comes from a Polygon interview with Director Hajime Tabata in which he stated: “If you do that full sequel model of expanding on an IP or a series, it’s good in certain ways, the negative of that is there’s a very large open period where you’re not releasing anything. In that period, you get people to move away, and their attachment to the franchise dissipates a little bit.”
It seems the studio will instead be focusing on smaller, story-based expansions to the main game. So far fans have received two updated focused on a member of the FFXV gang each, with the third, “Episode Ignis”, coming in December.
