Netflix has released a first look at the second season of Luke Cage, just days before Season 2 of Jessica Jones drops.
The new footage may be short, but it does show a lot of Luke holding his own against fire, bullets, and much more. Also, given the trailer’s closing line wanting Harlem’s hero to “get paid” we might well be seeing “Heroes for Hire” sooner rather than later.
The new synopsis reads:
“After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.”
Along with this teaser, Netflix has also released some new images from the upcoming season:
In other Luke Cage news, Mastafa Shakir will play John McIver, the alter-ego of Bushmaster, while Gabrielle Dennis will be taking on the role of Tilda Johnson, who many will know as Nightshade in the comics. Simone Missick will return as Misty Knight, with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as Shades. This season will also see Finn Jones reprise his role as Iron Fist, while Reg E. Cathey will deliver his final performance.
Actress Lucy Liu is set to take on directorial duties when Luke Cage returns on June 22nd.
