While it was teased that the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp would reveal where the characters were in Avengers: Infinity War, it actually doesn’t deliver on that tease. However, Infinity War spoilers aside, the trailer features a lot of the fun we’ve come to expect from Ant-Man, and it shows more of Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) than we’ve seen before.
We got a glimpse at the film’s villain, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), as well as meeting Laurence Fishburne’s character, Bill Foster, Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) old friend who worked with him on project “Goliath.” This, of course, was the codename that Pym went by in the comics for a time, and the name that Foster went by as well. However, we didn’t get so much as a mention of Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne, though there were plenty of nods to the Quantum Realm, where she has supposedly been trapped for decades.
The film’s synopsis reads:
“From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes ‘Ant Man and The Wasp,’ a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope Van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.”
Ant-Man and the Wasp opens on July 6th in the US, and August 3rd in the UK.
