HBO has been keeping a lot about their upcoming Game of Thrones sequel under-wraps (apart from the announcement of Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse joining) but they have now announced the cast and director for the pilot.
SJ Clarkson (The Defenders, Jessica Jones) has been tapped to direct and executive produce the upcoming pilot, from writer Jane Goldman and author George R.R. Martin.
As well as this, a number of new additions to the cast including Naomi Ackie (Lady MacBeth), Denise Gough (Colette), Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga), Shelia Atim (Harlots), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans), Georgie Henley (Chronicles of Narnia franchise), Alex Sharp (To The Bone) and Toby Regbo (Reign) all of whom are set as series regulars.
The prequel, created by Goldman and Martin, and written by Goldman based on their story, takes place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones. It will chronicle the descent of the world from the Age of Heroes to its darkest time. The only thing we know for sure is that the from horrifying secret history of Westeros, to the true origin of the White Walkers, this is not the story we think we know.
More on the Game of Thrones prequel when we have it.
