Gearbox, the developers behind the Borderlands series and last year’s Battleborn have announced that they are working on a new game, and it’s not quite what you’d think. The game is currently titled “Project 1V1” and is said to be a “competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the meta-game strategy of a collectable card game.”
Other than that brief description there’s not much else we know about the game other than a screenshot of the game’s artwork, which can be viewed at the top of this article. On the game’s website, three modes are listed; Ranked, Challenge and Arena. There will be closed test period for the game which you can sign up for here.
Gearbox‘s last title Battleborn was a commercial flop when it released last year, most likely due to the fact it launched so close to Overwatch. The game later went free to play which had caused most fans to hope that the team would be working on Borderlands 3 next, it seems this is not the case, unless the two games are being developed in tandem.
