We’ve known for a while that God of War was due for release in the Spring of this year but now we have an exact date. God of War will release April 20 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
The news comes via a post on the PlayStation Blog from Cory Barlog of Santa Monica Studios. In it he expresses his excitement for the release, saying; “First, let me say that this is my favourite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day.”
As well as the reveal of the release date, a new story trailer has also been revealed. Speaking on the trailer, Barlog added “I love this trailer. After I saw it, I pre-ordered the game.”
He goes on to announce preorder bonuses for the game which include three legendary shield skins.
If you pre-order any edition at GameStop or EB Games, you’ll also receive Luck of Ages XP Boost, which grants +10 Luck and has 1 Enchantment Slot.
Luck influences the following:
- Increase XP gain
- Increase Hacksilver gain
- Increase the ability to trigger Perks
There’s also a Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition on top of the previously announced Stone Mason’s Edition.
God of War is the newest entry in the award winning franchise. Now in a Nordic setting with reworked camera angles, combat and new enemies. The story of Kratos and his son Atreus will be told exclusively on PlayStation 4 this year. The game sees a marked shift in focus to a more story-driven structure. From the demos released so far it seems that this new instalment will be quite a bit different from its predecessors, with Kratos waxing existentially on his past.
