Neil Gaiman announced Wednesday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour that Benedict Cumberbatch is joining Good Omens as Satan.
The Sherlock actor joins the already star-studded cast which includes David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Frances McDormand, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, Miranda Richardson, Michael McKean, and many more.
Gaiman adapted the series himself from the novel he wrote with the late Terry Pratchett, which tells the story of a demon (Tennant) and an angel (Sheen) who join forces in the face of the impending apocalypse.
Tennant previously gushed about Gaiman’s adaptation of the story in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying “It’s such a unique world that [Gaiman] and Terry have created. If anyone else had taken it on, I don’t think we could have captured the real quirky essence of it.”
Amazon also released a look at the show’s opening credits:
As well as this they revealed that all six episodes of Good Omens will be available for streaming from May 31st.
