As work continues on the TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens, a wealth of new casting announcements are coming to light.
Good Omens finds angel, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon, Crowley (David Tennant) who have become very fond of Earth, and so are rightly annoyed when they discover that the Antichrist is planning to show up and bring the world to an end. In 2018, we see a variety of unusual and Biblical characters caught up in the chaos of it all.
Anna Maxwell Martin (Philomena) has been cast as demon Beelzebub, while Mireille Enos (The Killing), Lourdes Faberes (Knightfall) and Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) will be playing War, Pollution and Famine, three of the Four Horsemen welcoming the end of days. As for Death, Gaiman has said “We are hoping that Death will be played by Death.”
These new arrivals join cast members Michael McKean, playing Sgt. Shadwell, the leader of the witch-finder army, Miranda Richardson as psychic medium and part-time courtesan, Madame Tracy, Jack Whitehall as wages clerk-turned-witch hunter Newt Pulsifer, and Nina Sosanya as Sister Mary Loquacious.
Good Omens will be released on Amazon Prime in 2019, to be followed by a run on BBC Two.
