It’s been known for a while that Grand Turismo Sport would include a VR component but it has been unclear as to exactly what it would entail. Thanks to details on the game’s website, we now have a better idea of what to expect.
The description for the VR component to Gran Turismo Sport reads as follows;
“The game is compatible with the PS VR, providing the user a 360 degree 3D environment to experience. There is a dedicated VR Drive mode in the Arcade Mode where you can drive one on one races as though you are really sitting in the driver seat, surrounded by a real car interior.”
This news comes after the revelation that series creator was not impressed by the current power of VR. Speaking in an interview with GamesBeat, Kazunori Yamauchi had this to say;
“I’ve been waiting for more than 50 years. After all that time, I’d hoped it would be something more incredible than it is today. But we’ve done the best we can with what’s currently available.”
Gran Turismo Sport launches October 17 exclusively for PS4.
