Last week we wrote about Nic Pizzolatto working on ideas for a third season of hit TV drama True Detective, casting Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in one of the lead roles. Now, it seems that more of the pieces are falling into place, as HBO has announced that Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier will be working with Pizzolatto on episodes of season 3.
The official synopsis for season 3 has also been released: “The next instalment of True Detective tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.”
Ali will play Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas who is dispatched to investigate the case.
As yet, HBO has not announced the show’s return date or how many episodes it will consist of – but given both of the previous seasons ran for 8 episodes, it’s safe to assume that it will likely be the same this season.
