A teaser for Halloween 2018 has arrived ahead of the full trailer, set to arrive on Friday.

Ignoring every Halloween film except the 1978 original, the story is set 40 years after the first film, with Michael Myers once again breaking out of prison to seek revenge on Jamie Lee CurtisLaurie Strode. However, Laurie has been waiting decades for the killer’s return, and has to protect her daughter and granddaughter as he goes on another bloody rampage.

Pulling out all the stops for fans of the franchise, production company Blumhouse has managed to bring back some of the original film’s talent. Not only is Curtis reprising her role, but franchise creator John Carpenter is returning as executive producer (as well as composing the score) and original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle will reprise his role in a couple of scenes – though the role will largely be played by James Jude Courtney.

While fans eagerly await the release of the film’s full trailer on Friday, the official Halloween Twitter account has released a short teaser, where audio clips of the film play over an image of Myers’ iconic mask:

This teaser arrives after the release of some official images from Halloween 2018, that show Myers in action, wearing his original mask, suitably weathered after 40 years, and Laurie fighting for her life:

At this point, it’s difficult not to be excited for this film, especially as it is staying so close to the original Halloween – and though Curtis herself has admitted that it is essentially a remake of the first film, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Halloween 2018 will be released on October 19th.
