Marvel may be keeping tight-lipped about Avengers 4 – refusing to even release the title – but it seems that Pepper Potts actress Gwyneth Paltrow may have let slip a huge spoiler for the next instalment.

Last chance to turn away if you don’t want to know.

Pepper may have only had a small amount of screentime in Avengers: Infinity War, but a fan has stumbled on an interview with the actress in Marvel’s Official Avengers: Infinity War Magazine, where she appears to drop a pretty big spoiler about Tony and Pepper’s relationship moving forward:

“Pepper and Tony have had a real long journey together. She obviously starts as his dutiful assistant, and then the relationship evolves, and now this decade later they’re married, and they have a child. Their relationship has evolved in all of the ways that great romances evolve.”

Excuse us, Ms. Paltrow, but a child??

It’s difficult to believe that Paltrow misspoke, or was misinterpreted, and given that the interview was published in an official Marvel publication, it’s doubtful no one checked this. However, if a baby is on the way for Tony and Pepper, there are a couple of hints in Infinity War.

In the film’s early scenes, we see the couple jogging in the park, and Tony tells Pepper about a dream he had, where they had a child named Morgan – to which she explains that he would need to leave his hero persona behind in order to raise a family. The two are then interrupted by Doctor Strange’s arrival, and we don’t here from Pepper again until she calls Tony when he’s on board the Q-Ship – but their calls is disrupted, and there’s a theory that Pepper was trying to tell Tony about the baby before the call cut out – which could well be true, with this little titbit of information being revealed.

A child would probably mean Tony stepping back from the Avengers and hanging up his suit, which of course would in turn free Downey from the franchise, so chances are, there might be some truth in this rumour.

Hopefully, we’ll find out when Avengers 4 hits theatres on May 3rd, 2019.
