And what that could look like.

HBO’s Watchmen has been a huge hit, with a strong digital viewership and a lot of awards recognition, but while the series was billed as a one-off, its success has prompted discussion of a follow-up.

Speaking to Deadline at the TCA Winter Press Tour, HBO President Casey Bloys admitted he doesn’t quite know what might happen with Damon Lindelof’s continuation of the DC Comics series.

“It is really up to Damon at this point, he is thinking about what he wants to do,” Bloys said. “Truly, I don’t know at this point whether it is a returning drama series of a limited series. I think one of the things Damon did so brilliantly was, he opened up this entire world. So maybe there is another version with a whole new set of characters. I don’t know because Damon doesn’t know, and I’m taking his lead on this.”

According to the HBO President, he’s open to whatever version of a Watchmen continuation that Lindelof has in mind, “If it’s a season two – great, if it’s a new take on the world – great, if it’s something else completely, I’m just going [to] take his lead.”
