Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen pilot for HBO has cast a number of actors in key roles.

Variety has reported that Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Django Unchained), Tim Black Nelson (Lincoln), Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman), Adelaide Clemens (Parade’s End), and Andrew Howard (The Brave) will appear in the series, with King taking a leading role.

The details of the characters are being kept under wraps, but Lindelof posted a letter to fans on Tuesday, in which he laid out his vision to for the series. He explained that he will not be retelling the story from the original graphic novel, but a new story in the same world, with new characters in a present-day setting.
