And the campaign is a harrowing reminder of his moustache problems
Last month marked the two-year anniversary of Justice League, with Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck among the stars who joined the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign. There was one notable absence in Superman actor Henry Cavill, but according to the star, he hasn’t even seen the cut.
Affleck, Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher banded together with fans to call for the release of original director Zack Snyder’s vision of the superhero team-up. However, Cavill decided to remain quiet on the matter, and still has yet to join the campaign.
In a recent interview with Fox 32 News’ Jake Hamilton, the actor joked that he’s stayed out of the movement because of the fiasco surrounding his digitally-removed moustache.
He told Hamilton, “I wouldn’t say there’s any particular reason. I mean, I miss my moustache – which is the most important thing. And for me it was just a harrowing reminder that I didn’t have it anymore. And so I just didn’t want to dig that wound any deeper.”
However, in another interview with ReelBlend’s Kevin McCarthy, Cavill revealed that he hasn’t actually seen the supposed cut of Justice League. “I have not seen a Snyder Cut. I don’t know if there’s anything that exists that is a Snyder Cut. I’m sure there’s footage out there that’s probably been pieced together over the years.”
“I’m always interested to see how that stuff turns out, but that is very much a chapter in my past. I would rather talk about what’s going to happen in the future, the future of Superman.”
It’s a shame really, as most of these interviews are supposed to be talking to Cavill about his exciting new project, The Witcher, but all anyone seems to want to know is whether Warner Bros. are going to release a film that might not actually exist – and one that insiders have already revealed they won’t entertain releasing anyway.
