Since its release at the weekend, Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 2 teaser trailer, has become the most viewed animated movie trailer debut of all-time.
The teaser for the long-awaited sequel debuted Sunday, more than 13 years after the first Incredibles film. Written and directed by Brad Bird the film was not only a blockbuster hit earning more than $261.4 million in domestic ticket sales and $371.5 million overseas, bagging it a Best Animated Feature Oscar.
The tale of a family of superheroes, starring the voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jason Lee, the film finished with the youngest member of the Parr family, baby Jack-Jack revealing some diverse superpowers, leaving fans dying for more. And 13 years later, Bird and the rest of the team behind The Incredibles, didn’t waste any time bringing Jack-Jack back in the teaser.
Despite the real-world passing of time, the sequel is said to pick up where the last film left off, with Jack-Jack’s powers still emerging through the story. Nelson and Hunter are reprising their lead roles of Bob and Helen Parr a.k.a. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, with Jackson returning in his role of Frozone, and together the family and Frozone must work together to defeat a new villainous enemy.
It will be interesting to see what future footage will involve, as we draw ever-closer to the June 2018 opening. While the teaser sees Mr. Incredible spending time as a stay-at-home dad with his powerful infant son, the footage shown earlier in the year at D23 pointed to a storyline featured Elastigirl more predominantly.
