And for a lead role, at that.
Marvel’s Iron Fist actress Jessica Henwick is currently in talks for a lead role in Warner Bros’ Matrix 4 – a part which is currently under wraps.
Sources told Deadline that Henwick performed strongly in the audition process and there’s been rumours in the industry that Matrix 4 director and co-writer Lana Wachowski is looking to have a female Neo-like character at the forefront of the new film, so it’s possible that this is the part Henwick is being eyed for. Perhaps this character could even be Neo’s daughter, potentially setting up a new series of films in the franchise.
If cast, the actress would join returning cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, as well as the newly-cast Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is rumoured to be playing a young Morpheus – and perhaps Jada Pinkett Smith, who is reportedly in talks to return to her role as Niobe.
Currently, Henwick voices the character of Alexia for the Netflix animated series Gods & Heroes, and was formerly in the role of Colleen Wing on the Marvel/Netflix series Iron Fist, and its spinoff The Defenders. She also played Nymeria Sand on Game of Thrones and appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
She also has a pretty impressive list of upcoming projects, including Paramount’s Monster Problems, Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong, Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks, and Fox’s Underwater, starring Kristen Stewart.
