To explain what JJ Abrams didn’t.
A new Star Wars feature is in the works from Sleight director J.D. Dillard and Luke Cage scribe Matt Owens, though apparently, those in the know can’t say for sure whether it will be a feature for the big screen, or one that will debut on the new streaming service, Disney+.
Reportedly, the story will take place on the hidden Sith planet, Exegol, which was introduced as Emperor Palpatine’s base in last year’s Rise of Skywalker.
Since the release of Rise of Skywalker, there’s been a number of posts out there from sources who delve into the expanded Star Wars universe about Exegol’s rich background. Including a post about the Sith cultists on Exegol who indoctrinated the planet’s population with Sith values and raised their children to become part of the Final Order – which Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood promptly tore down for being one of the MANY things that had absolutely no explanation in the film:
One of the many issues with Rise of Skywalker was that, for the final film in the saga, it introduced a hell of a lot of new things without an ounce of explanation as to what they were and why we’d never encountered them before.
Perhaps this new film will at least rectify that problem with regards to Exegol, arguably one of the film’s most interesting and least-explored ideas.
More on Disney’s next Star Wars feature when we have it.
