While most fans of the MCU are focusing on upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, director James Gunn is hard at work on the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Promising that he will round off the trilogy he started in 2014, Gunn will be back for one last adventure with Star-Lord, Gamora, and the gang. With this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 once again hitting big at the box office, hopes and high that the third movie will follow suit. And while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may not arrive until 2020, Gunn has given an update on where the project currently stands.

It’s expected that Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista will return, however it is unknown at this time who else will be returning to the team this time around, as Gunn has remained tight-lipped in whether the ‘original’ Guardians will be back for more.

Launching into movies around a more cosmic version of the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is sure to be another light-hearted adventure with an amazing soundtrack to accompany it – but will it live up to expectations? Whatever happens, Gunn has a lot of weight on his shoulders, as this final instalment aims to set up the next decade of MCU movies, and kickstart Phase 4.
