When it was announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy were to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, there was concern from fans that the humorous, quirky team that we’d all come to love would not be the same when we saw them alongside other MCU greats. But, worry no more, as it has been revealed that Guardians director James Gunn got to write his team’s lines.
At an Awesome Con Q&A with Dave Bautista, SuperBroMovies reported a behind the scenes secret that the actor shared – namely, that James Gunn was in charge of the Guardians’ characterisation in Infinity War, and even wrote some of the characters dialogue. Bautista wouldn’t divulge any details, but from what the trailers have shown us so far, the ragtag group of heroes are still those we know and love.
This would definitely be a more efficient way for the Russo Brothers to have worked on the film, as helming a project this big was likely to bring with it a certain amount of problems. The directors have also been consulting with various other previous MCU helmsmen, in order to ensure that they are able to get the characters and the story just right. This is especially important when we consider just how different the Guardians films are from all the other MCU features, both in tone and humour.
Avengers: Infinity War opens April 27th.
