Filming on Andy Muschietti’s IT sequel has begun, and leading man James McAvoy shared punny picture to commemorate the occasion.
McAvoy, who will be playing the adult version of Bill Denbrough, took to Instagram today to announce his first day filming on IT: Chapter Two. Don’t get too excited, however, as the photo was of the actor inside his trailer with a triangle of cheese standing in for the film’s setting of Derry, likely playing on how similar both sound in McAvoy’s native Scotland.
Muschietti is back at the helm, with his co-writer on the first film, Gary Dauberman in charge of the script. Taking place 27 years after the events of the first film, this sequel will adapt the concluding half of Stephen King’s source material, and with the time jump came new opportunity for the director to bring some new talent on board – and after the first film grossed over $700 million worldwide, it can’t have taken much persuasion.
Chapter Two’s cast has come together fairly quickly, but it’s certainly impressive, with casting decisions that have clearly been given some serious thought. Check out the full list of adult Losers here.
The young cast of IT are expected to reprise their roles in some way for Chapter Two, and Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård will also return.
IT: Chapter Two is set for release on September 6th, 2019.
